7 Steps To Your New Home
The process of working together
1. Hello!
Meet with us for an initial consultation and describe what you have in mind for your existing or new home. We will determine the scope of work, talk about the general design process, answer anything you need to know about working with a designer. Allow for 2 hours as we get to know each other.
2. Formalities
Thank you for choosing our services! Once the Letter of Agreement is signed and a retainer is received, we can officially begin your project.
3. Research
Rounding up information will be the first task. We will take any necessary measurements and photos for reference, provide questionnaires, share inspired images, collect existing documents to facilitate the work such as surveys or original floor plans. We perform any necessary building code and zoning bylaw checks, and will let you know if other consultants need to get involved.
4. Design
We will present designs reflecting your needs and requirements for your specific project. Layout options, elevation views, and renderings will show you the proposed vision of the building or rooms. Products, materials and finishes will be presented to you for interior design discussions. We will guide you through decisions and you will be excited and looking forward to the new spaces by the time we complete design and are ready for the next step.
5. Documents
Construction drawings will be provided for construction use or for a building permit submission. Finish specifications will be completed for the General Contractor. We have referrals to many contractors, engineers, and other consultants should you require services depending on the scope and scale of your project.
6. Coordination
Excitement builds as construction begins! We continue with project coordination by working with your contractor and sub-trades to ensure details are not missed, to provide clarification or to overcome unforeseen surprises (as can be found in renovation work) with solution management. We will make several visits to see the progress and make sure design intentions are followed through in practice.
7. Wrap Up
The finishing touches are complete and you are ready to love your home. We will set up a photography day for our portfolio and for you to see how magazine worthy your home is. Even after the project comes to an end, we like to keep in touch to know how you are doing in your new spaces!
